December 1, 2009 -- Fujifilm Medical Systems USA came to RSNA this year with the world debut of the FDR D-EVO flat-panel digital radiography (DR) cassette, as well as the launch of its new Medical Informatics Division.

The FDR D-EVO lightweight DR cassette is intended to facilitate transition to DR without modification to the exam room. It features secure network connectivity and transmits images to the technologist workstation in five seconds with a nine-second cycle time, according to the Stamford, CT-based company.

In addition, Fuji announced the formation of its Medical Informatics Division. Formerly known as Networks Systems, the new configuration is designed to integrate all functions associated with the company's informatics activities and to create a platform for future growth.

The restructuring involves integration of several former functions, with the Synapse product portfolio providing integrated PACS, RIS, cardiovascular imaging, and women's health imaging. The new Medical Informatics Division will be showcased at this week's meeting, the company said.
