November 28, 2010 -- DeJarnette Research Systems of Towson, MD, announced the release of version 3.4 of its xDL (Cross-Enterprise Document Librarian) vendor-neutral archive software at RSNA 2010 in Chicago.

The new release provides additional functionality and performance improvements, such as support for fast (http over WAN) CIFS interface, encryption support, enhanced database performance, and an improved Web administration graphical user interface, according to the company.

Testing of the system was performed in the spring of 2010 with an average volume load of 1,600 studies per day, seven days per week, including studies generated by a wide variety of modalities of different makes and models over a 1-Gb connection. Under these conditions, individual studies as large as 2.5 GB (compressed) were handled routinely using a Dell rack computer running 4-GB of memory in a virtual environment with a single core assigned to the xDL.
