Memorial Sloan Kettering will use the mobile CT scanner for imaging as part of brachytherapy procedures in its radiation oncology department, according to the company. BodyTom Elite is a 32-slice full-body scanner and will be used at the hospital to support more precise radiation therapy delivery, improve department workflow, and enable faster patient throughput.
Typically, brachytherapy patients are taken to a CT scanner in the radiology department for planning and then sent to the radiation oncology department for treatment. The new system will enable brachytherapy planning images to be acquired at the point of care.
