The technology allows clinicians to create photorealistic images based on x-ray, MRI, and CT scans. These images may enhance the depiction of anatomy and pathology, with the potential to improve patient-physician communication as well as postmortem visualization, the company said.
Global illumination is integrated into the Vitrea advanced visualization workstation developed by Canon subsidiary Vital Images, and it has been available to customers outside of Japan since January 28.
