Disparate VC results suggest 2D/3D debate isn't over

Two recent studies have given new life to an old rivalry: 2D versus 3D primary reading of virtual colonoscopy data. In the first, ACRIN 6664 researchers found no significant difference in sensitivity between the two reading methods. In the second study, however, researchers at the University of Wisconsin in Madison found that primary 3D reading on a single system produced substantially better outcomes compared to 2D reading.

Clinicians still need access to older imaging studies

Referring physicians still require the ability to access medical images older than one year, according to researchers from the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands. They looked at how many older studies were requested by referring physicians after seven years of fully digital radiology operations, and presented their findings at the recent RSNA 2007 meeting in Chicago.
