The Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) has announced a number of staff changes, including the selection of a new manager for the DICOM standard.
Ten-year MITA veteran Stephen Vastagh will take the reins of DICOM. He most recently served as industry director for MITA's x-ray and radiation therapy sections and also oversaw the international program, according to the organization. In addition, Vastagh was active in developing the Dose Check standard in 2010 and MITA's Radiation Therapy Readiness Check Initiative.
In other MITA personnel moves, Brian Connell will assume the Technical and Regulatory Committee's policy activities. He will also continue to lead MITA's efforts with state legislatures and serve as a point person on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies, MITA said.
Rich Eaton will add a new role as industry manager for MITA's MR section to his current responsibilities as industry manager for MITA's ultrasound, medical informatics, and molecular imaging sections.
Gail Rodriguez, who leads MITA's PET working group as well as its radiopharmaceutical initiatives, will also be taking on the management of the x-ray section. MITA's largest product group, the x-ray section includes CT, interventional x-ray, and mammography. In addition, she will manage MITA's research efforts.
MITA assistant manager and webmaster Zach Helzer has been tapped to lead MITA's international regulatory efforts.
