Fuji forms medical informatics unit

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA has launched a new global medical informatics division and reorganized its U.S. medical business operations.

The new division, called Medical Informatics Solutions - Global (MIS-G), will continue to have its headquarters in Stamford, CT, and will be led by Fuji veteran Masaaki Ohtsuka, according to the vendor.

In his role as division president, Ohtsuka will lead both product development and global business development and planning, supporting the use and implementation of Fuji's PACS, RIS, cardiovascular, and 3D products worldwide, according to the company.

Fuji said it has also realigned its U.S. organization to help assure effective medical informatics deployment across the U.S. market and to provide an integrated service and support model for all customers. Fuji veteran Bob Cooke has been promoted to senior vice president, with an expanded role that encompasses all aspects of sales and marketing and medical IT delivery and integration, and provides greater alignment with the service organization, the company said.

In other executive news, executive director of medical informatics Jim Morgan has been promoted to vice president of medical informatics. He will now have responsibility for sales, product management, and marketing for all Synapse products.

In addition, Erica Rouleau has been named vice president of modality solutions. Rouleau, who previously led the company's northern sales region, will now direct the combined digital x-ray and women's health groups, Fuji said.
