4DMedical has signed a binding agreement to acquire contextflow GmbH, an Austria-based AI lung imaging company, marking the Australian medical imaging firm's entry into the European market.
Contextflow develops AI-based lung cancer detection and radiology workflow tools and holds a CE-marked product suite already deployed in clinical workflows across Europe. The acquisition gives 4DMedical an established European commercial and technical team, an existing customer base, and a regulatory platform aligned with Europe's Medical Device Regulation (MDR), the company said.
The combined portfolio is intended to support a clinical pathway spanning detection and triage of lung abnormalities, diagnostic assessment using functional imaging, and disease progression monitoring. 4DMedical said the acquisition complements its existing functional lung imaging capabilities, which provide quantitative assessment of ventilation, perfusion, and lung mechanics.
