Week in Review: SPECT/CT and prostate cancer | ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ reaction | Minnies nominations

Erik Ridley Headshot

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Our most popular story this week on AuntMinnie featured new research exploring the role of post-therapy SPECT/CT exams in advanced prostate cancer patients receiving Pluvicto (lutetium-177 prostate-specific membrane antigen-617)

In a retrospective analysis, researchers found that SPECT/CT performed after cycle 2 of Pluvicto (Novartis) predicted overall survival. The results suggested that the modality could improve treatment strategies for patients with poor prognoses, according to the group.

The controversial One Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law on July 4. How will the legislation impact radiology? Initial reactions were mixed, according to our second most-viewed story.

Other articles generating significant page views last week included reports on how dietary choline increases bone mineral density in postmenopausal women, how ancillary features on CT and MRI don’t impact the diagnostic performance of the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS), and how well large language models can interpret bone fracture textural CT reports

In other news, we’re pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for our annual awards program recognizing excellence in radiology -- the Minnies. Do you know some worthy candidates for Minnies awards in categories such as Most Influential Radiology Researcher, Most Effective Radiology Educator, and Best New Radiology Software? Let us know by filling out our nominations survey. Semifinalists for the 2025 Minnies will be announced in September.

Will any of the 14 Minnies categories winners repeat from last year? We’ll know the answer in a few months.

Also, if you haven’t already done so, we invite you to participate in SalaryScan, our initiative to provide our members with the latest data on compensation and benefits in radiology. Please take a few minutes now to fill out this short survey and join your fellow AuntMinnie members in making SalaryScan a highly valuable resource for the radiology community. As always, your responses will be kept totally anonymous and will help to produce the most accurate results.
