Siemens debuts radiotherapy readiness service

Siemens Medical Solutions has introduced a suite of precommissioning services for its Oncor Impression and Primus linear accelerators for radiation therapy. The Velocity Suite services will be provided by Advanced Radiotherapy Consulting Specialty Services of South Bend, IN, according to Malvern, PA-based Siemens.

The precommissioning service is conducted by a group of physicists at the Siemens Oncology Care manufacturing facility, who prepare the system prior to shipment to a customer site. This provides a linear accelerator with more than 90% of the commissioning work completed, shortening the amount of time between
completion of installation and first patient treatment, the company said.
