Nucletron to become Zmed sales agent

Dutch radiation therapy firm Nucletron has signed an agreement with Zmed in which Nucletron will become the exclusive sales agent for Europe, North and South America for Zmed's SonArray treatment guidance system and its stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery products.

SonArray is a high-precision patient-positioning platform, based on the integration of optical tracking devices with 3-D stereotactic images. It provides real-time feedback to position the patient with submillimeter accuracy, according to the company.

According to the Ashland, MA-based Zmed, the system will interface with existing radiation therapy technologies and with Nucletron's inverse treatment planning (ITP) on the PLATOcomplete system. Previously acquired CT contours are then overlaid onto stereotactic 3-D ultrasound images to localize the position of the radiation target.
