NCI CAD database program gathers momentum

The potential for computer-aided detection (CAD) technology to improve lung cancer detection may get a significant boost with the launch of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-sponsored Imaging Database Resources Initiative (IDRI). The program may also facilitate the introduction of new chest CAD software tools, according to industry and academic experts.

Post-UAE MRI demonstrates symptom control for adenomyosis

Although hysterectomy is the definitive treatment for adenomyosis, uterine artery embolization (UAE) can improve symptoms such as bleeding and pain. But many women with adenomyosis have co-existing pelvic disease, making it difficult to determine if UAE truly has a beneficial effect on adenomyosis. Researchers from Washington, DC, performed an MRI study in adenomyosis-only patients to correlate imaging features with clinical symptoms.
