Preop US targets shoulder calcium deposits while US therapy quashes pain

In about half the patients who suffer from calcific tendinitis, the deposits can become symptomatic. The pain can be intense, so orthopedic experts are on the hunt for pain management methods. Recently, researchers from Europe looked at the role of ultrasound in calcific tendinitis of the shoulder, both as a preoperative test and as a treatment modality.
