Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) sought to shed some light on the topic in their study to determine the effects of ROI definition on quantitative measurements of tumor FDG uptake.

BMI's importance loses weight in new atherosclerosis study

Experts disagree about which measures of obesity most accurately predict the risk of atherosclerosis. Is the body mass index (BMI) able to predict atherosclerotic disease? Not very well, according to a new study. Using electron beam CT and cardiac MRI, researchers from Dallas found that only the waist-to-hip size ratio was independently associated with atherosclerosis.
