Clarius debuts new ultrasound scanner

Clarius Mobile Health launched a new wireless handheld whole-body ultrasound scanner at the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) annual meeting in Philadelphia this week.

The scanner, called Clarius PAL HD3, is as compact as an iPhone and works seamlessly with iOS or Android devices. The device combines phased and linear arrays on a single head and offers real-time imaging of both superficial and deep anatomy at the bedside, which makes it suitable for a wide range of clinical applications, the company said.

The device has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is available in the U.S. for $5,395, plus $595 for the first year of membership, Clarius added.
