Sanarus to feature new version of Visica at RSNA

Sanarus Medical of Pleasanton, CA, has announced that it plans to highlight its Visica 2 treatment system at the upcoming 2007 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

Visica 2 uses cryoablation to surround and destroy fibroadenomas by freezing them with liquid nitrogen. Ultrasound provides guidance for the in-office procedure, and confirms that the fibroadenoma has been destroyed. The technique is an alternative to surgical excision, according to Sanarus. Visica 2 has been in use at selected clinical sites since April of this year.

The company has also formed a partnership with breast care centers across the U.S. to encourage regional and national efforts to increase patient and primary care physician awareness of Visica 2. These centers will participate in a patient registry to document clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction rates following the treatment.
