EchoNous introduces new probe for Kosmos ultrasound platform

EchoNous has launched Torso NXT, an updated version of the Torso probe for its Kosmos point-of-care ultrasound platform.

The probe images the heart, lungs, abdomen, and bladder, and supports OB/GYN exams. It keeps its predecessor’s AI and automation features, including Auto EF, AI FAST, Auto Doppler, and Bladder AI. It also supports continuous-wave, pulsed-wave, tissue Doppler imaging, and color Doppler.

Compared with the Torso-One, Torso NXT is smaller and narrower, has a 360-degree grip, and uses a wired cable that can be replaced on site rather than sending the probe out for service, according to the company. It is IP67-rated, and EchoNous said its added processing power is intended to support future AI applications.

Torso NXT is available in the U.S. and works with Kosmos Mobile, Kosmos Plus, Kosmos Tablet G1, and Kosmos Link. It falls under the company's existing U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the Torso-One. International availability will follow as clearances are secured, the firm said.
