Australian MR experts have proposed using in vivo 3-tesla MR spectroscopy (MRS) of the ovary, along with 8.5-tesla MRS of the biopsy specimen, in ovarian cancer. They suggest that the two modalities combined can offer a multitude of information for a multifaceted disease.

Diffusion-weighted MR noninvasively monitors uterine fibroid therapies

When combined with MR, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) produces a quantitative biophysical parameter called the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of water. ADC maps have been successfully employed to monitor the progression of ischemic tissue in stroke. Imaging and interventional specialists are now proposing the use of ADC maps to monitor uterine fibroid therapy.
