Bayer presented late-breaking data on its investigational PET radiotracer iodine-124 (I-124) evuzamitide at the Heart Failure Society of America annual meeting, held October 9 to 12 in Phoenix.
The presentation covered a post-hoc analysis from the phase III REVEAL study and evaluated the sensitivity and specificity of I-124 evuzamitide for detecting cardiac amyloidosis based on visual interpretation of PET/CT scans. I-124 evuzamitide has been granted breakthrough therapy designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for PET imaging in patients with suspected or known cardiac amyloidosis.
The tracer also has orphan drug designation in the U.S. and EU for both light-chain (AL) and transthyretin (ATTR) amyloidosis. It is not approved for any indication in any country.
