Study correlates CTA to angiography, myocardial perfusion SPECT

An ambitious effort to compare the results of coronary CT angiography (CTA), catheter angiography, and myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging yielded good overall agreement in patients with known or suspected heart disease. The researchers, from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, believe CT could potentially replace the other modalities in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease.

Dual-source coronary CTA detects reduction in lumen diameter

Even in patients with high heart rates, dual-source coronary CT angiography (CTA) provides accurate detection of significant lesions, according to a preliminary study by Dutch investigators. One reason for dual-source CTA's success is technical advancements in the equipment, said the group from Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
