Philips Medical Systems has reached an agreement to acquire Brazilian x-ray manufacturer VMI.
With the acquisition of Minas Gerais-based VMI, Philips will be able to offer customers in Brazil and across Latin America a more complete diagnostic imaging product portfolio, according to the Andover, MA-based firm. VMI of Minas Gerais participates in the analog and digital x-ray markets, as well as the cath lab, mammography, and ultrasound sectors, Philips said.
The deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2007. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
