Royal Philips Electronics, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has introduced NeuroSuite, an interventional x-ray system.
The system is designed to enhance minimally invasive image-guided neurological interventions. The first NeuroSuite system was recently placed at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm.
NeuroSuite consists of a biplane interventional x-ray system with two detectors: Philips' frontal FD20 detector delivers live 2D and 3D imaging, and the smaller, lateral FD15 detector can be positioned beyond the shoulders and very close to the head. The shorter distance provides full-brain imaging at a lower x-ray dose, and 3D imaging is optimized for neuro and spine interventions.
NeuroSuite comes equipped with Philips' AlluraClarity, which can lower radiation dose by as much as 73%, Philips said. The system also includes VasoCT, which visualizes intracranial devices in vessel context and vessel morphology down to perforator vessels.
Philips will officially launch NeuroSuite at the Live Interventional Neuroradiology and Neurosurgery Course (LINNC) in Paris from 23-25 June 2014. NeuroSuite is not available in the U.S. at this time.

![Representative example of a 16-year-old male patient with underlying X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy. (A, B) Paired anteroposterior (AP) chest radiograph and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) report shows lumbar spine (L1 through L4) areal bone mineral density (BMD). The DXA report was reformatted for anonymization and improved readability. The patient had low BMD (Z score ≤ −2.0). (C) Model (chest radiography [CXR]–BMD) output shows the predicted raw BMD and Z score in comparison with the DXA reference standard, together with interpretability analyses using Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) and gradient-weighted class activation maps. The patient was classified as having low BMD, consistent with the reference standard.
