FDA clears GE's OEC C-arm

GE Healthcare has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its OEC 9900 Elite C-arm cardiac and vascular systems.

Shipping of the C-arms from GE's Salt Lake City headquarters began this week, with 300 units expected to ship this month and 900 devices scheduled to ship during the first year of full production.

Since May 2008, the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor has shipped more than 1,700 ESP/GSP 9900 Elite C-arms from Salt Lake City and more than 220 cardiac and vascular systems internationally.
