
CT lung screening pioneer Dr. Brady McKee of Amesbury, MA, died May 15 as the result of an accident, according to an obituary published May 18 in the Salem News.

He was also instrumental in co-founded one of the first high-volume lung screening programs in the U.S. and in securing Medicare reimbursement for CT screening.
McKee was born in 1970 in Ipswich, MA. A graduate of Dartmouth Medical School, he completed his radiology residency at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, and went on to serve there as chief of thoracic imaging. He helped found the Rescue Lung Society, an organization that seeks to reduce lung cancer mortality through early detection, the Salem News reported.
McKee is survived by his wife, Dr. Andrea McKee, Lahey's chair of radiation oncology, and two sons.
