United Imaging has donated $14 million in portable scanning and operating rooms to Chinese mobile hospitals that have been established in sports centers, exhibition halls, and schools to fight the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.
The company's Emergency Room Departments are modular, waterproof, insulated 20-m2 scanning rooms and operating areas. They feature United Imaging's artificial intelligence-based uVision software, which allows for automatic patient positioning and scanning from the operation room. The rooms are also connected through a 5G network to local hospitals.
The rooms will help Chinese mobile hospitals quickly adapt CT to diagnose the virus and image more patients, the company said. United Imaging has installed rooms at Hanyang International Exhibition Center and Tazi Lake Sports Center -- both in Wuhan -- as well as at Hongshan Stadium in Xinjiang. It is planning on installing six more units in other locations.
