GE Healthcare has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for Optima CT660, a compact CT scanner designed for ease of use and low-dose scanning.
Optima CT660 is scalable in configurations ranging from 32 to 128 slices and designed with GE's HD technologies. It includes the company's adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) dose-reduction algorithms, improved workflow features, and advanced applications for cardiovascular, oncology, neurology, and other fields.
The scanner also features a small footprint, which, when combined with its modular design, makes the system appropriate for customers constrained by small space, according to the company. It also uses 60% less energy than previous-generation scanners.
Optima CT660 is already in use at hundreds of sites in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, the company said.
