Siemens Medical Solutions this month plans to make the first installation of its 10-slice CT scanner, Somatom Sensation 10, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. The product, a works-in-progress system, uses a 10-slice detector configuration, with the capability of acquiring 20 submillimeter slices per second, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor. The scanner, set to be unveiled at December’s RSNA conference, can also be upgraded to a 16-slice configuration, the company said.
