Marconi Medical Systems said its Mx8000 multislice CT scanner will be used in a national lung imaging study being conducted by medical and engineering researchers at the University of Iowa. The researchers recently received a five-year $7.1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct research related to lung imaging and model-based analysis, according to Cleveland-based Marconi.
The award, one of the first made under the NIH’s new Biomedical Engineering Partnership program, will allow for the purchase of an Mx8000 scanner, according to Marconi. The system will be installed at a new facility being constructed for the project.
