U-Systems adds to coffers

Breast ultrasound developer U-Systems has raised $16.5 million in additional venture funding.

The funding round was led by Siemens Venture Capital; other investors include existing U-Systems investors Sycamore Venture Capital, MDS Capital, Radius Ventures, Kinetic Capital, and United Investments. New investors included President International Development, iD Innovation, China Investment & Development, and TSC Bioventures, according to U-Systems of San Jose, CA.

U-Systems said it would use the funds to expand its sales and marketing organizations, as well as continue investment in product development and clinical investigations.
