NovaRad will release a Lite version of its NovaWeb viewer. NovaWeb Lite provides full 16-bit DICOM images and radiologists' reports, with access to studies available in a JPEG file format, according to the American Fork, UT-based firm.

NovaWeb Lite is designed for referring physicians and others who may not have a PACS or who use an older model computer or don't have high-speed Internet access, NovaRad said. The viewer includes password protection, 128-bit HIPAA-compliant encryption, JPEG 2000 compression, and basic levels of window/level, zoom, and pan capabilities.
