SAN DIEGO - The aggressiveness of many brain tumors makes accurate imaging vital for staging and patient management. At the 2002 Academy of Molecular Imaging conference, Dr. Miguel Pozo of the Centro PET Complutense in Madrid found that coregistered FDG PET and MR images accurately distinguished necrosis from tumor recurrence.

The occurrence of rabies in humans varies wildly: In 2000 in the U.S., five cases were logged with the World Health Organization. By comparison, in 1998, India reported 31,300 instances of rabies in humans. Faced with so many cases, doctors in India have found a role for MRI in diagnosing radiculomyelitic rabies.
