A study based on data from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) trial found that being born in the U.S. -- and living there -- could be hazardous to your health. Specifically, being born in the U.S. and spending time in the fast-food nation are associated with the extent of calcification in people with CT-detected coronary artery calcium.

Radiology
. The results add weight to the findings of a handful of other in vivo studies, which have concluded that coronary artery calcium assessment with MDCT is sufficiently robust to allow for dramatic dose reductions.
