CHICAGO - Annual mammograms appear to lower the risk of mastectomy in younger women, according to a U.K. study presented at the 2010 RSNA meeting. Researchers found that 22% of those who had a mammogram in the year prior to diagnosis had a mastectomy, compared with 52% who did not have an exam.
