ACR responds to
NEJM
article on CT radiation risks
In a review article published in the November 29 issue of the
New England Journal of Medicine
(
NEJM
), researchers from Columbia University Medical Center in New York City raised issues about the potential increases in long-term cancer risks for individuals scanned with CT. The American College of Radiology (ACR) issued a response to the article with concern that its findings could cause patients to avoid scans that direct lifesaving medical care.

CHICAGO - The physical wounds from brain or spinal trauma aren't the only effect of the injury: individual bankruptcy can prolong the pain of the experience, according to University of Washington researchers. They conducted a study that assessed the incidence of personal bankruptcy increases after hospital admission for serious injury, and presented their findings on Tuesday at the 2007 RSNA meeting.
