Toshiba adds to cardiac offerings

Toshiba America Medical Systems will debut a number of new technologies for its cardiac portfolio at the annual American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting in March.

A new addition for its Infinix x-ray product line, Advanced Image Processing (AIP) is designed to assist physicians to better visualize small interventional devices and provide other enhancements for patients undergoing interventional procedures, according to the Tustin, CA-based vendor. AIP offers benefits such as a programmable image display, reduced background noise for fluoroscopic and digital acquisition imaging, improved device and vessel visualization, improved resolution in dark areas, and superior dynamic range, Toshiba said.

Toshiba will also be introducing sureCardio Perspective, a low-dose CT angiography software package that automatically reduces radiation dose during CT exams. It reduces breath-holds for better patient compliance, while cutting radiation dose by as much as 80% with no increase in contrast, Toshiba said.
