E-Z-EM sales dip in Q1

Lower sales of CT and fluoroscopy contrast products led to a 1% decline in fiscal first-quarter sales from continuing operations for contrast and virtual colonoscopy firm E-Z-EM.

For the quarter (end-September 1), the Lake Success, NY-based company had net sales from continuing operations of $33 million, down from the $33.4 million turned in a year ago. E-Z-EM had net earnings of $645,000, compared with net earnings of $1.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2007.

The decline in CT and fluoroscopy contrast sales was partially offset by increased CT injector system sales, price increases, and foreign currency exchange fluctuations, E-Z-EM said. President and CEO Anthony Lombardo said the company believes it is on track to reach its fiscal 2008 financial goals.
