Carestream assists in Albania project

Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, has been participating in a project to provide computed radiography units, printing systems, and professional services to a European Union program designed to improve health screening in Albania.

The project's goal is to improve the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer in Albanian women by screening for breast and uterine tumors. In 2007, some 30 Albanian healthcare professionals were trained in screening techniques at the SARIS breast center in Bari, Italy, by Italian physicians and Carestream staff.

Those physicians have now returned to Albania to begin the screening program. The Carestream equipment has been installed in Albania, and the screening program is set to run through 2008.
