Agfa nabs $500M China deal

Agfa HealthCare has won a deal worth $500 million to provide computed radiography systems, printers, and film to Chinese hospitals.

The Mortsel, Belgium-based firm signed the four-year deal with its Chinese distribution partners, and the company expects the equipment will be used to capture and manage more than 50 million x-ray images.

Agfa noted that the Chinese government plans to invest more than $124 billion in healthcare over the next three years and will build 5,000 new hospitals, mostly in rural areas.
