CMT inks flat panel x-ray detector deal

Digital radiography developer CMT Medical Technologies of Yoqneam, Israel, has partnered with Tower Semiconductor of Migdal Ha'emek to develop and market flat-panel digital x-ray detectors for medical applications, the company said.

The collaboration targets a market of more than $500 million per year, according to CMT. The detectors will be designed for radiography/fluoroscopy, cardiology, angiography, and mammography applications. Delivery of the first units will begin in 2009.
