Kodak adds CAD for dental DR

Eastman Kodak Health Group said that it will offer Logicon Caries Detector computer-aided detection (CAD) software as an optional component with its intraoral DR systems marketed in the U.S.

The CAD application automatically highlights possible abnormalities on patients' digital dental x-ray images, signaling the dentist to look for tooth decay or fractures.

The Rochester, NY-based Kodak recently purchased the software from Northrop Grumman and GA Industries of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, which held a patent and license on the technology, respectively. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Previously, Kodak used the software under a licensing agreement with GA Industries.
