Konica Minolta debuts extra-long CR cassette

Konica Minolta Medical Imaging USA has introduced a new computed radiography cassette designed for imaging tall patients.

The new 14 x 51-inch cassette is designed for use with the Wayne, NJ, company's Xpress CR and IQue CR systems. It is targeted for use in capturing full-length leg and full-length spine images in a single exposure of patients who are taller than 6 feet 6 inches. Konica Minolta's previous long-length cassette was 14 x 42 inches.

The new cassette houses three slightly overlapped CR plates to capture the entire length of the spine or leg on multiple CR plates simultaneously. The plates are then inserted onto cassettes of the same size for scanning by the CR reader, and stitching software automatically joins the individual images into one composite image.
