Toshiba launches contrast-free MRI technique

Toshiba America Medical Systems of Tustin, CA, has introduced a fourth-generation contrast-free imaging technique for MRI scanning, the company reported.

The technique, called time and space angiography (TSA), creates images that show dynamic blood flow without using contrast agents. It builds on Toshiba's time-spatial labeling inversion pulse (Time-SLIP) technique, and is designed to help patients with compromised circulation and renal flow problems. For stroke victims, TSA will show blood flow into the brain and display the impeded area, according to Toshiba.

TSA will be available on Toshiba's Vantage MR systems.
