CA self-referral bill pulled

A California legislator has withdrawn a bill that would have eliminated in-office performance of MR, CT, or PET imaging by any specialist other than radiologists, according to the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

Assembly Bill 516, introduced in February by Rep. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco), would have altered the in-office exception to the California law that prohibits providers from referring patients for services in which they have a financial interest.

According to the ACC, which claimed credit for the bill's withdrawal, Yee has indicated he may resubmit the bill with different wording.
