Matrox to spotlight display controllers, partnerships at ECR

Imaging graphics card developer Matrox Graphics of Montreal will be showcasing its latest line of medical display controllers, the Matrox RAD series, at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna, Austria.

The RAD2mp display controller has dual-output support of up to 2 megapixels (MP) in grayscale or color and supports analog or digital displays. The Rad2mp display controller is also equipped with a hardware pivot feature for smooth and accelerated portrait image displays, and is capable of driving various combinations of color and grayscale displays in stretched or independent modes, according to the firm.

Also featured in the RAD2mp display controller is the company’s real-time grayscale processing technology. For grayscale displays, the concurrent execution of legacy 8-bit grayscale applications alongside color Microsoft Windows desktop applications is possible without any desktop artifacts. The controller also features the capability to convert color displays to grayscale, Matrox said.

The RAD9mp, which supports up to 9.2 MP in grayscale or color, can be configured in either landscape or portrait mode and supports a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2400 in landscape and 2400 x 3840 in portrait mode at the maximum vertical refresh rate supported by a display. The RAD9mp controller also features real-time grayscale processing technology.

The Matrox RADQ2mp solution supports four identical 2 MP analog or digital, grayscale or color displays, from a single board. With maximum grayscale resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200 in landscape mode and up to 1200 x 1600 in portrait orientation on each display, the RADQ2mp board features multiple display capabilities for diagnostic or review stations, including wall-mounted digital filmless lightboxes. Also featured in the RADQ2mp display controller is Matrox’s real-time grayscale processing technology.

In related news, Matrox reported that NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display has chosen the Matrox MED series line of display controllers to power its upcoming 2 MP and 3 MP medical displays. The grayscale diagnostic imaging displays, the MD 21GS-2MP and the MD 21GS-3MP, will be debuted at the ECR, Matrox said.

Also, the firm said that RIS/PACS developer ComMedica has implemented features of the Matrox Imaging Library software development toolkit in its DICOM Image Viewer Software. This has enabled the viewing of 1,024 simultaneous shades of gray from up to 16-bit source images, the company said.
