GE, St. Jude Medical partner on cardiac imaging

GE Healthcare and St. Jude Medical of St. Paul, MN, have entered into a development and collaboration agreement to create integrated imaging and monitoring capabilities for cardiac catheterization labs.

Under terms of the agreement, GE and St. Jude Medical will develop a cardiovascular ultrasound imaging system with integrated intracardiac echocardiography imaging capabilities, according to Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based GE.

The firm said it intends to integrate its ultrasound technology with St. Jude Medical's catheter technology to provide real-time ultrasound heart imaging with direct visualization of both blood flow and other catheters used during cardiac procedures.
