Shimadzu, Mikron team on sales

Radiology equipment distributor Mikron Digital Imaging, of Livonia, MI, joined with Shimadzu Medical Systems to sell four of the Torrance, CA-based company's MobileDaRt digital radiography systems to the University of Michigan, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

The July sale allowed Mott to replace its analog mobile x-ray system with the portable digital x-ray technology.

Shimadzu and Mikron also combined to make Genesys Regional Medical Center the second hospital in the U.S. to purchase Shimadzu's AngioSpeed VC Safire direct flat-panel detector. The angiography C-arm acquires images at 30 frames per second, while rotating about a patient's axis at 60º per second.

Genesys is a 390-bed acute care hospital in Grand Blanc, MI.
