Nycomed Amersham changes name to Amersham PLC

It's back to the future for contrast developer Nycomed Amersham. Shareholders for the London-based company have approved a proposal to change the company's name to Amersham PLC.

Nycomed Amersham was formed by the 1997 merger of pharmaceutical developer Hafslund Nycomed of Norway with radiopharmaceutical company Amersham International of the U.K. The company did not give a reason for the name change, which it said would take effect "as soon as practicable to ensure a smooth transition from the old name for all operational companies."
