Planmed

Planmed of Roselle, IL, plans to showcase Nuance, a work-in-progress full-field digital mammography unit with amorphous selenium detectors that come in large and small sizes.

Nuance includes MaxView and the company's side-access positioning system, as well as image acquisition and soft-copy reading with optional computer-aided detection (CAD) interface. The system can perform diagnostic mammography procedures when an optional digital stereotactic device and a geometric magnification kit are attached.

The company filed a premarket approval (PMA) application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June of this year, and hopes to receive clearance by the first quarter of 2007. Nuance has been available in European and Asian markets since the first quarter of this year.
