Carestream adds features to DRX systems

Carestream Health announced it has introduced new software features for three of its DRX digital radiography (DR) systems to enhance the quality of pediatric and intensive care unit imaging and productivity.

The new features include the following:

A companion image from the original exposure for pneumothorax visualization to enhance the appearance of free air in the chest cavity
Image processing for pediatric views to optimize image quality by choosing default processing parameters to suppress noise and enhance detail based on patient size
Software for chest imaging to outline areas in the image to alert a technologist if a retake might be needed due to incorrect positioning

The features will ship by mid-July with new DRX-1 systems, Carestream said. Existing customers can upgrade existing systems with new software.
