Medtronic announces CEO succession plan

Interventional device provider Medtronic announced today that president and COO Arthur Collins, Jr. will replace William George as CEO on May 1, 2001. George will remain as chairman of the Minneapolis-based vendor until April 30, 2002, when Collins will also inherit that post. George has been CEO of Medtronic since 1991 and chairman since 1996.
